Promises - Advent Teaching Series 2024

The world was a dark place, and there was a great yearning and need for healing and someone to bring light and cast out the darkness. Into this world, God gave multiple promises that it would not always be like this. One day, he would send the Messiah. The one who would come with great power and authority to heal what was broken and to bring lasting peace. Then, one day in Bethlehem, it happened. God’s promises were fulfilled. The Apostle John would go on to share some of the greatest news possible, “In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (Jn. 1:4-5) John was speaking about Jesus here. Jesus, the long-promised Messiah, would come to the world he created, to his own people, and he would become human to do so. He is Immanuel, God with us. And he is the Light of the world and the one whom the darkness cannot overcome. This is precisely the truth that we will celebrate and lean into over our Advent teaching series this November and December. During Advent, we remember when the Light of the world arrived and brought new life for those trapped in darkness when God fulfilled his promise to send the Messiah. Make sure you join us this Christmas season as we remember the birth of Jesus and the moment that God incarnate came to earth and a great light shone in the darkness that is the hope for all people.
