Ephesians - Bear Good Fruit

When Jesus talks about the Christian life, he often uses agricultural imagery. In John 15, Jesus tells us that he is the vine and that we (Christians) are the branches who are to bear fruit. That is, if we are to bear fruit, we are going to have to remain connected to him. In fact, he’ll go on and tell us that if we don’t stay connected to him, we won’t bear any fruit at all. Believers are to remain connected to Christ and bear fruit. When Paul wrote to the church in Ephesus, he is writing to a group of believers who needed to hear that same message. So he’ll tell them about their new identity in Christ, how God has given them gifts to serve in love, and how they are to endure faithfully through the trials of this world. The letter to the Ephesians is all about the church. That is the corporate people of God. How we are changed and what we are changed for. As the people of God, we are forever changed by Christ. We are changed to bear good fruit, fruit that shows the goodness of Jesus. We hope that you’ll join us this late summer and through fall as we study the book of Ephesians.
